Senior Teaching Technologist

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Bristol is expanding its technical support for teaching. We are now seeking applicants for a new post of Senior Teaching Technologist who will play a lead role in implementing the expansion. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong technical skills who wishes to move into education and work with young people in an innovative and rewarding learning environment.
You will be responsible for the provision of specialist equipment, hardware and software to support teaching, and provide technical support and advice as required according to the teaching aims of the Department. You will work closely with academic staff and other support staff around the University, and you will be expected to build up an eclectic body of technical knowledge and expertise relevant to the changing nature of computer science. You will also be expected to communicate and support students at all levels in respect of technical issues relating to their studies. It is anticipated that the role will develop to have further leadership responsibilities as the expansion of technical support progresses.
You will have experience of working with software and hardware in a variety different scenarios and you will have the ability to learn new techniques and technologies as appropriate. You will have good programming skills in at least one programming language and be familiar with the linux and windows operating systems. You will also have some experience of designing and implementing small scale electronics projects. Relevant qualifications to degree or HND level would be an advantage. In addition, you will be pro-active, have good communication skills and have a genuine interest in working with young people.
