Models of objects in 3D and their creation process are central elements for a variety of applications in Augmented Reality. In this paper we extend our previous work in the area of interactive in-situ model building for handhelds and in particular we study two hand held devices in the context of 3D feature selection. In a controlled experiment we compare two interactive methods to specify 3D vertices and discuss the i??ndings of our results and identify design recommendations. We further extend the system by incorporating an object detection process which starts and/or re-initializes the tracker when lost creating a more i??uid interaction process.
