A unified approach to feature extraction based on an invertible image transformA. D. Calway, R. Wilson, A unified approach to feature extraction based on an invertible image transform. IEE Int Conf on Image Processing and its Applications, pp. 1–2. September 1989. No electronic version available.
The task of extracting meaningful image features is approached with the aim of developing a unified framework. Based on a hierarchical image model, the method incorporates the fundamental properties image features - spectral and spatial locality in a multiresolution space. An example of feature extraction within this framework is provided using line and edge features as the basic components. The paper concludes by indicating the unified nature of the approach and its ability to incorporate more complex feature representation.
