Two Bristol researchers have been given the honour of chairing two of the top cryptography conferences in 2008.

Nigel Smart is program chair of EuroCrypt 2008, which will be held in Istanbul in April 2008. EuroCrypt is the main general cryptography conference to be held annually in Europe.

Elisabeth Oswald is joint programme chair, with Pankaj Rohatgi from IBM, of CHES 2008. CHES (Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems) is the main conference in the area of cryptographic hardware, which includes everything from RFID tags, and smart cards, through to accelerator hardware for servers.

Both of these two meetings are sponsored by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR), which is the body representing cryptographers worldwide.
