For a number of years Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) has been operating a freestanding scheme designed to give promising undergraduates a first-hand opportunity to experience research in a UK laboratory, to encourage them to consider a career in scientific research. The Research Experience Placements (REPs) scheme provides awards that are allocated to a number of departments / institutes selected and approved by BBSRC and the Bioscience Skills and Careers strategy panel.
BBSRC is allocating REPs to promote a range of strategic priority areas and we are pleased to announce that the Computer Science Department has been included in the allocation of these awards. Julian Gough has been selected for an award as he has been identified as conducting research in one of their priority areas.
