IET Computer Vision started life from Volume 1, Issue 1 in March 2007, following the merger between the IEE (Institution of Electrical Engineers) and the IIE (The Institution of Incorporated Engineers) to form the Institution of Engineering and Technology. At the time, the long-standing journal of 'IEE Proceedings Vision, Image and Signal Processing' was split into 3 new titles: IET Computer Vision, IET Image Processing and IET Signal Processing to better serve the corresponding research communities. Prof. Mirmehdi will be the IET-CV's second Editor-in-Chief, starting January 1st, 2012, when Prof. Edwin Hancock of York University will conclude his term.

Prof. Mirmehdi's principal aim while managing the journal will be to increase its imapct factor and visibility to attract original and high quality research papers in Computer Vision.
