The International Assoication of Cryptologic Research (IACR) is the organization which represents cryptography research on an international scale. The IACR publishes the premier journal in the field, the Journal of Cryptology. It also organizes the three main conferences (CRYPTO, EUROCRYPT and ASIACRYPT), as well as the four workshops (CHES, FSE, PKC and TCC).

This week the results of the elections for the Board of Directors were announced, and two Bristol cryptographers will be serving in two of the four elected officer positions. Dr Martijn Stam will continue his service as the IACR Secretary and Prof. Nigel Smart will become the new Vice President.

The election was held using an internet based electronic voting system called Helios; which uses cryptography to provide a secure and publicly verifiable election system.
