Novel tangible interfaces to be developed to record memories of the elderly in Care Homes

'Tangible Memories: Community in Care’ aims to help improve the quality of life for residents in care homes by building a sense of community and shared experience through cooperative exploration of their life stories. Rather than put these stories in a book or on a website, the project will develop novel technologies to digitally attach stories to objects that are meaningful to users.

New teaching boards for first year Computer Architecture

This year's first year students are benefiting from the introduction of new hardware teaching equipment, which has been custom designed for our first year Computer Architecture unit. Each student has been given a UoB NANDboard which allows them to learn computer logic design in a hands-on way and use the building blocks of 16 NAND gates to create simple and more complex logic circuits.
