The Times Online has ranked the Computer Science department at Bristol 5th in a league table of Computer Science departments in the UK. The league table was compiled by taking into account the quality of the teaching, research and the students at the institute.

The EPSRC has funded a new project to engage with members of the public in designing mobile devices.
Building on the department's work on authoring located media, Dr. Mike Fraser and Dr. Kirsten Cater will support members of the public to locate sounds, images and the like in particular places, leaving them there for others to discover.

Cognitive Aid System for Blind People 09-Jan-2006
Dr Majid Mirmehdi and Dr Neill Campbell, along with Prof Tom Troscianko from the Dept. of Experimental Psychology, are part of a consortium of universities and companies who were recently awarded a 2M Euro EC-FP6 grant for a project (CASBliP) to develop a cognitive aid system for the blind.
