This year a record number of prizes have been won by Bristol University Computer Science undergraduates. A total of thirty five prizes were sponsored by nine different industrial partners, including IBM, Google, Toshiba, Infineon, Netcraft, XMOS, IPL, Detica and Sportcraft.

EPSRC have awarded our cryptography group over £800,000 to investigate a novel new secure processor architecture. The project involves working with a number of leading companies in the area including AIST, Cryptography Research Inc, SiVenture and XMOS Ltd. Many of the topics researched in this project are taught in our undergraduate and Msc programmes.

Bioinformatics and biological research in the department has been strengthened thanks to awards totalling £1.2 million from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC).

Detica endorses Bristol computer science degrees. Detica has a long-standing relationship with the Computer Science Department at Bristol, sponsoring two prizes in security within the department and also recruiting a number of students each year from our various degree programmes.
