About meI am a postdoc in Prof. David Nutt's Neuropsychopharmacology Unit at Imperial College London where I work under Dr Laurence Reed as the image analyst for the ICCAM Platform. This project is a collaboration between Imperial College London and the Universities of Cambridge and Manchester, and is funded by the Medical Research Council to study the neural mechanisms of addiction. I am also finishing off my PhD based in the Visual Information Laboratory at the University of Bristol, under the supervision of Prof. Majid Mirmehdi and Dr Andrea Malizia (Psychopharmacology Unit). My research is in the development of novel methods for the analysis of pharmacological MRI data. Sex differences in functional connectivity (HBM 2011) |
Research
Pharmacological magnetic resonance imaging (phMRI) is a technique similar to functional MRI (fMRI) which can be used to examine the effect of certain drugs as they act on the brain. These types of experiments are usually analysed by comparing a model of the expected effect with what is observed. However, the neural response in phMRI may be unknown or under informed. My research aims to develop novel techniques which can be used in the exploratory, data-driven analysis of this kind of data.
