Reference Guide for Staff
Security/ID Cards
- Security forms for access to the MVB can be found in the Dept Office
and needs to be
authorised by the HoD.
- Your ID card and form needs to be taken to the Security
Office in the
Royal Fort Annexe to be updated with a Pin Number for swipe card access.
Phones
- To get an outside line dial 2, 1 - then dial required number.
- To transfer a call press Recall then Ext No.
- To Get caller back after putting on hold or trying to transfer press
Recall * 1
- To transfer your phone to a different Ext No. dial #9 Ext No. - To
cancel dial ##9
- Dial 0 for operator - who can put you through to a person, department
or give you a
UoB ext no.
- If you would like Voicemail please collect a form from the
Departmental Office
Fax (located in the Dept Office)
- To send a fax, first get an outside line (dial 2, 1) then dial
required fax number.
- Put paper in face down, head first and press start.
Photocopier
- To use the photocopier you need to see the Departmental office for
a code.
- After photocopying, always press ID after to cancel your ID code.
Scanner
- There's one in the dept office, but it may be easier to use the photocopier,
which can email images to you.
Post
- Post trays for Internal/External post can be found in the Dept
Office
- Post leaves MVB at 3pm, but leaves Senate House at approx 4ish.
- Porters deliver internal mail approx 3 times a day.
- All post is franked 2nd class, so please state on your envelope if
you want it to go
1st class.
- Royal Mail Post Box located at the bottom of Woodland Road
Car Parking
- University
Parking. Both visitor and your own parking space can be managed from
that page.
E-Mail
- Need to speak to Rob to set up your e-mail and network
security set up and
passwords etc or anything computer/network related
- You will also need a Bristol e-mail address and to be on the UoB Web
Pages, internal
telephone directory etc.
- Access to the CS Local User pages can be obtained by getting a web password. See Ian or Martin if you are not
registered in the database.
Headed Paper
- Please speak to the PA to the head of department to get a template for
correspondence.
Printers
- Worde (double sided) and Leger (colour) are
located on the 3rd floor opposite the photocopier
- Redman is on the other side of the 3rd floor
- Paper/Toner obtainable from Departmental Office or Rob (Rm
3.45)
Room Bookings/Refreshments
Refreshments: Book through the Hawthorns Ext 45517
First Aid
- First Aid Box available in the Kitchen
- First Aider is Syed Rahman
