Preface
This handbook draws together information and advice about Computer Science at Bristol - the Department, its people, its working methods and its programmes. The handbook is aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students (as a guide), and staff (as a reference). You should read it carefully even if you have already spent time in the Department, as there are continual changes.
The chapters are ordered so that the most important information is covered in the first half of the handbook. The last half of the handbook is reference material, specifying details on each unit.
The handbook is a hardcopy of the master version that is maintained on our web site, http://www.cs.bris.ac.uk/handbook/. Next year's handbook is available by using the 'year switch' at the top of the http://www.cs.bris.ac.uk/handbook/ page.
If you have any comment on the contents of this handbook (incorrect or missing information), then please let a member of staff know.
