We welcome applications from students living outside of the UK and we accept a wide range of qualifications with grades equivalent to our standard A-level offer. Details and examples can be found in the Entry Requirements section of our online prospectus. If English is not your first language, then we will also require evidence that you will be capable of studying in English. This is usually a score of 6.5 overall in the IELTS test with a minimum of 6.0 in each section. Alternatively in the IBT Toefl examination, we require 90 overall with 25 in the writing section. All applications must be made through the UK Universities and Colleges Admissions Service as described in the How to Apply section. A large number of international students study at Bristol and the University provides a wide range of facilities to meet their needs. There is an International Centre which provides advice and help, as well as providing a meeting place for overseas students. The Student Union also has many country-specific groups, such as the Chinese, Algerian, Thai and Hellenic Societies.

The University provides accommodation for international students during their first year. You will be guaranteed a place in a halls of residence if you are accepted onto a full-time undergraduate degree programme and apply before a set deadline. As with many of the larger cities in the UK, Bristol is a diverse community with many ethnic groups represented, making it an ideal location to study for international students. It is also within easy reach of London by bus or train, and is an excellent base for UK tourist attractions.
