Working with Schools
We work with local schools and other organisations to promote computer science. In addition we often get asked for material for school students and preapplicants who wish to find out more about what computer science is.If you are a teacher perhaps you would like one of us to come and visit your school, or perhaps you would like to bring a class of students to us to sample a taste of University life ?
Below we list some of the activities we get involved in.
Lectures
We have a series of lectures which are suitable for the age group 15-17. These have been given either at the University or by a member of staff visiting a group of schools. If you are interested in this please contact us.Robots
For the last two years we have been involved in day long events which involve school children, aged 14-16, in programing small robots.Involving Schools in Research
We have been involved in a couple of projects we aim to bring school children into the research environment.- Designing the School of the future: This involved students from Nailsea school being involved in a novel mediascape related to deciding what they wanted their school to be like in the future.
