MSc in Computer Science
I came to Bristol University in 2002 to study for my first degree, a BSc in Experimental Psychology. During my final year I came to think of what I might like to do after graduating and, during my deliberations, I came across the MSc in Computer Science conversion course that was offered by the CS Department. Loving Bristol as I did, I saw it as a fantastic opportunity to (a) learn Computer Science and (b) gain a post-graduate qualification - two things that I had long wanted to do.
Since graduating I have been offered two IT-based jobs - one at Research Machines in Abingdon as a Network Programmer and the other at Microsoft in Reading on their 'MACH' graduate training programme, based in their Microsoft Consultancy Services department. Without doubt I would not have had these offers roles without my MSc as the last official IT qualification that I gained was at GCSE! As it happens, I gratefully accepted the job at Microsoft and look forward to starting there in September, only two years after returning to Bristol.
I would highly recommend studying at Bristol (I have done it twice!) and especially the MSc in Computer Science. Everyone that I met was extremely friendly and the teaching and support staff were excellent. The whole year went very smoothly and was thoroughly enjoyable.
