QUALIFICATIONS
In order to apply for any of our programmes, you must normally have at least an upper second class Honours Degree or equivalent. You can find the international qualifications equivalents and other useful information on the University of Bristol site. A lower class of degree may be acceptable if you have significant industrial experience, but this cannot be assessed without a complete application including a CV or Resume.
ENGLISH
If you are not a native English speaker and you have not previously studied in an English speaking country, you will require an IELTS score of at least 6.5 overall, with at least 6.0 in each band. If you have an IELTS score of 6.0, you may still be admitted if you attend a 5-week pre-sessional English course in the University's Language Centre and complete it satisfactorily.
ENGLISH EQUIVALENTS :
TOEFL 92 overall with at least 22 in each band.
ADVANCED COMPUTING
All Advanced Computing programmes have two streams: an Experienced stream and a Foundation stream. The E stream is for people with substantial programming experience in a suitable mainstream programming language: such as C or Java, depending on the programme. If you lack sufficient programming experience you can follow the F stream, in which you will be taught the necessary programming skills in conjunction with the specialisation that you have chosen.
Please note that the decision on whether you will take the E or F stream does not have to be taken when you apply; this will be decided when you commence the course.
