Application Procedure for Postgraduate Study

Applications are considered by course directors or potential supervisors within the department. Your application cannot be considered until all of the required documents are received. Before applying, please ensure you have read the entry requirements for your chosen course.

We will be looking at on-line applications for academic year beginning September 2011 from 1st November 2010.  The deadline for all applications will be 1st August 2011. 

Please apply for all of our MSc courses on-line .  Within the on-line application, for it to be considered a COMPLETE application (applications will not be assessed unless they are complete), you must upload the following:

 
  • A transcript of your degree marks - If you have not completed your degree please send a transcript of the marks obtained so far in your course and ask your referees to include a prediction of your final mark.
  • Two letters of reference in support of your application - At least one reference must be from an academic contact. If you are unable to obtain two academic references, current employers can also be accepted.

You are also welcome to upload a resume / CV, personal statement and exemplary certificates with your application if you wish. Please do not include high school or secondary education certificates as these will not be considered in your application.

International applications must also upload:

  • Proof of English ability - Please upload a copy of an IELTS certificate (or equivalent), or a stamped certified letter/certificate stating that English was the medium of instruction in your degree or previous studies. If you are due to take an English test, please state the date you are expecting to get your results.
  • A certified translation of the transcript (and degree certificate IF available) should also be uploaded within your application.

 


MSc Computer Science (MS50)

This is a conversion course that is designed for people with little or no previous academic computing experience. If you have a Computer Science related degree you are likely to be overqualified for this course and are eligible to apply for one of the four advanced computing MSc courses.

Advanced Computing

There are four advanced computing MSc courses to choose from. 

 MS51 - Machine Learning, Data Mining and High Performance Computing

 MS52 - Creative Technology

 MS53 - Internet Technologies with Security

 MS55 - Advanced Microelectronics & Systems Engineering
