Advanced Computing MSc Project

This is an outline of the procedure for completing your individual project. Please read carefully. If you are in any doubt about what you have to do then contact your course director.

Note: If for any reason you are not able to spend the required time on your project work then you must contact your course director and supervisor as soon as possible. Extensions for submitting dissertations cannot be granted except with the approval of the Head of Department and Graduate Dean.

Please be aware that a dissertation submitted more than 1 week late without a previously agreed extension will receive a mark of 0.

Timetable

  1. You can only start working on the project if your performance on the taught part has been satisfactory and your mark for the interim report is at least 50%.

  2. During the summer you will work full-time on your project, along the lines outlined in your interim report. This should be completed by the end of August.

  3. You should begin writing your dissertation at the end of August. The deadline for ONLINE submission is September 30.  The deadline for the submission of hardcopies is (strictly) no later than 1pm on October 1st in room MVB 3.37. These are hard deadlines. The usual 1-day and 1-week extensions apply. Further details can be found on the webpages below.

  4. You are required to produce a poster about your project and give a demonstration of your work. Both will be evaluated by the Assessment Panel during an MSc poster day which will take place on 3rd and 6th of September 2010.  Please keep checking this page for the timetable so you will be able to see your time and date you are expected to present. Your final mark for the project will be based on this evaluation and your dissertation.

*Please carefully read the "How to submit your dissertation" link below.*
