Case Base Management through Induction

C. Giraud-Carrier, I. Dattani, S. Corley, Case Base Management through Induction. Proceedings of the IJCAI99 Workshop on Automating the Construction of Case Based Reasoners, pp. 44–49. August 1999. PDF, 115 Kbytes.

This paper shows how the processes of case base construction and maintenance can be largely automated by the integration of inductive learning into case-based reasoning systems. This synergistic combination gives rise to hybrid systems capable of constructing cases from raw data such as maintenance logs, as well as revising and refining their case bases over time. One such system, called FLARE, is described, along with its application to a real-world problem.
