Abstract

A hierarchical approach is used to represent the data structures for a triangular mesh for the radiosity method. The radiosity values are calculated using a ray tracing method for numerically evaluating form-factors. The radiosities are stored as patch vertex values which enables the mesh to be refined adaptively by evaluating the radiosity gradients across these vertex values.
