Peter Flach

Biography

Peter Flach is Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Head of the Intelligent Systems Laboratory. His research is in the areas of machine learning and data mining, and he has made contributions to theory and practice of mining highly structured data and the evaluation and improvement of machine learning models using ROC analysis. He has published over 150 research papers on these and related topics as well as books on intelligent reasoning and machine learning. Prof Flach is the Editor-in-Chief of the Machine Learning journal and was Programme Co-Chair of several international conferences, most recently of the 2009 ACM Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining and the 2012 European Conference on Machine Learning and Knowledge Discovery in Databases which the Intelligent Systems Lab hosted in Bristol.
