Nigel joined the University from Hewlett-Packard Laboratories. He is a world expect on the theory and practice of cryptography; having contributed to areas as diverse as elliptic curve cryptography, pairing based cryptography, protocol design and analysis and more recently techniques to compute on encrypted data. Various of the techniques and algorithms he has designed are in various industrial standards and products. He is a Director of the International Association of Cryptologic Research, a Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award holder and an ERC Advanced Grant holder.
